To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing on behalf of The White Lake Landowners’ Association, of Central Frontenac County. We would like to express our support for the Community Coalition Against Mining Uranium (CCAMU), in their efforts to avert uranium mining in Frontenac County.

White Lake is designated as a federally protected lake, with a provincial fish hatchery located on the lake. We are located in the Land o’Lakes region, which is covered with an interconnected network of lakes, rivers, ponds, and streams. If uranium mining or even exploratory drilling was pursued in Frontenac County, the lakes and streams which we cherish would become a conduit for the spread of radioactivity and other contaminants. We would have an environmental and an economic disaster in the area.

We join the CCAMU in a call for an environmental impact assessment before any uranium mining and indeed before any further uranium exploration would occur in Frontenac County. We believe there should be a Uranium mining moratorium in Eastern Ontario.
